With so many things to think about when planning a wedding, one thing you may not put much thought into is whether or not bridesmaids’ shoes should all be matching. You may think think that this is a very difficult thing to decide. If you are totally helpless then consider this: let your gown theme be your guide.  Wedding shoes are very important and shouldn’t be overlooked.

All bridal dresses are special and unique. It will have a very different design from the bridesmaids. You are the center of attention on that special day and your gown reflects that. But bridesmaids dresses need not exactly match one another these days, either.

The overall look of the wedding and the dresses should be consistent.  One good choice is to have a design that is overall similar, but different in small touches.  When it comes to these individual touches it could simply that different colored ribbons are used for each dress.

So what all this talk of gowns when we’re supposed to be discussing shoes? You will understand better if you continue reading.

When it comes to specifications such as the fabric, they needn’t match the dresses exactly. But they should not stick out either. Just a slight difference is fine.

Satin shoes may be a good match with your dress. Of course, when shopping for bridal shoes you may well only be able to find satin ones anyway.  It may well be that you decide to go for satin shoes for the bride but crepe shoes for the bridesmaids.

Now consider color.

Bear in mind that there are shoes that can be dyed to whatever colour you wish. The reason they are so popular is that you might have found a style you particularly like but find that they don’t match the color of your dresses.

You might want, say, a bold navy for the bridal shoes. That can look great under a cream wedding gown. Now use the same color, but go a shade or two lighter for the bridesmaids’ shoes. The same, but different. The focus remains on you, but the bridesmaids are coordinated.

Now that you have decided what you are buying for bridal and bridesmaid shoes, remember that the groomsmen has to wear a pair of shoes too:  Groomsmen Shoes
