BANISH SWIMWEAR PHOBIA

Written by fashion on December 22, 2009 – 3:54 am

Everyone loves the arrival of summer, but not everyone loves buying new swimwear.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, a survey by cosmetics giant, Garnier found that women were obsessed with their bodies.Of the 3000 women (aged 18 - 40) interviewed for the survey, 7% thought about their bodies fifty times a day, with another 20% thinking about their shape 10 times daily.
Stomachs were the least liked aspect of their bodies, followed by their rears.46% of respondents said they would like more toned, flatter stomachs with twenty per cent desiring an improved behind.Other parts of the body are also a source of unhappiness, with 10% not happy with their breasts, 14% not happy with their legs and 4% wanting to change the way their arms look.
With all that unhappiness, it’s no wonder that most women dread buying new swimwear.
Well, there’s no longer anything to dread because there is a swimwear manufacturer who understands the market and is making items that fit the imperfect body and flatter it too.One Perth swimwear manufacturer, Viva Swimwear stands out from the rest - they listened to what their customers told them and have designed new styles to fit and flatter every shape and size.
One of the new styles is a longer length tankini top which comes in sizes ten to 18, and which has gathering up the sides to flatter a women’s tummy area. The new halter top has soft cups so that women can choose what level of support they want. This style also enables women who’ve had breast surgery to insert their own pads into the cups.
The colours for the new season include purple, black, white, brown and pink.In the popular chlorine-resistant swimwear range, the new hues for summer include teal and purple. And the new tie-side swimwear bottoms will appeal to younger wearers, especially in the new range of fashion colours.
And for women who hate the bright lights of shop changerooms, Viva Swimwear has included shots of its swimwear from the back and the front, so that online shoppers can ‘try on’ in comfort. Now that’s a good example of customer service in action.
Cotton wraps and cover-ups matched with swimwear are also a great look for the new season.  The best-dressed ladies on the beach this summer will be wearing fashionable cover-ups including kaftans, dresses, tops and pants. And as every woman with a fuller figure is well aware - these have been very difficult to track down.  Viva Swimwear has a wide range of unique cover-ups up to size 26.
Other new developments in the pipeline include an innovative modesty range for Muslim women in chlorine-resistant fabric and a full control range for larger sizes.
The new season styles for women of all shapes and sizes, even plus size swimwear, will ensure that everyone has fun in the sun.

Plus Size Shorts for Every Body

Written by fashion on July 4, 2009 – 5:01 am

For many plus sized women, the thought of wearing womens shorts is one that they’d rather not think about. There’s no question that it was for me! The only people I ever though that looked good in shorts were athletic types or shapeless fashion models. But thankfully plus size clothes designers have become aware of the increasing desire for fashionable and nicely-fitting plus size shorts and swimwear.

These days, there are a wide range of brands to browse at when it comes to plus size swim suits and clothing. From maternity wear to juniors sizes, the plus size woman now has a variety of stores to choose from. However, summer time staples such as swim suits and shorts haven’t quite seen their day. Thanks to pioneering shops such as Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Torrid, there is a satisfyingly diverse range of styles to choose from.

Other than the sizing, you’ll want to factor length and style when deciding on your plus size shorts. Shorts that hit at mid-thigh or longer are the most flattering for plus size figures.  For more modest options, plus sized capris or cropped pants are an excellent in between compromise.

Truly flattering shorts are simple in style, with a flat front and no bulky embellishments.  Pleats generally do not work well with those who don’t have completely flat abs. Choosing two-pocket style shorts with a flat front, minimal design elements, and solid colors is always a classic look. A quality pair of shorts are the perfect pair for your favorite shirts and blouses in the summertime. Another fun option is to go with a plus size skirts. Once again, a longer skirt is the most flattering style.  Short skirts are not as flattering, so a skirt that hits at your knee or longer is your best option.

Look Fabulous in a Plus Size Swim Suit

Written by fashion on June 24, 2009 – 10:48 pm

It’s not uncommon for a woman to avoid wearing a bathing suit unless she feels like her body is “perfect”.  But most of the “average” women out there aren’t incredibly toned or model-skinny.  But we still want to feel confident and beautiful - whether we’re relaxing at the poolside or sun bathing at the beach. Plus size swimwear brands have really done a great job recognizing this. Thankfully there are now swimsuits that are made to fit and flatter a woman’s body, no matter her size.

Plus sized bathing suits come in a lot of the same varieties that traditionally-sized swimsuits come in.  Ample support and coverage are excellent design features, created with the plus size woman in mind. If you love a two piece but crave a little modesty and extra support, go for a tankini style.  Adding a pair of plus size swim shorts is a great way to turn your tankini or swimsuit into a lounging outfit.  Women with a little extra padding definitely deserve to feel sexy and confident in swimwear!

Finding something that flatters your natural body curves and size is important. A top with a deep V neckline can offer that subtle sexiness while not being too revealing. Often times, a plus size swimsuit top will offer more modesty and coverage. Bustline flattering options such as a v-neck or scooped neckline are a great choice.  These styles will give all of the support one needs to be confident and look their best in their bathing suit.

Plus size bathing suit bottoms come in a number of different styles, including traditional briefs, skirted, and shorts. You’ll be amazed at how flattering a skirted bathing suit bottom really is.  Briefs go amazingly well with a stylish, brightly colored V-neck top. Sundress-style swim suit tops are also commonly found, and give the bathing suit a flirty feel.

The 3 Best Fitting Plus Size Swimsuits for 2009

Written by fashion on June 3, 2009 – 12:38 am

With the weather warming up and summer vacation quickly approaching, I decided to go on a quest for the best fitting plus size swimsuit. We all know that swimsuits can be pretty pricey, but I personally am willing to pay the price for something that is not only durable, but figure flattering and stylish. The last thing you want to have on your vacation is an ill-fitting swimsuit since you will basically live in it for however long you are away at your tropical paradise.

One of the most important things to me when shopping for a plus size swimsuit is fit. As a Mother, Wife, and Plus Size Model it is important to me to NOT have all of my “business” showing to the entire world. I look for a swimsuit that I can not only wear from patio to poolside, but one that I can wear to the water slide park or for a day at the beach with the family. Having a couple of different options for different occasions is great, but for those of us who are on a budget we will make 1 suit work for all of the above.

On my quest I visited many different stores in the mall that I know carry plus size clothing such as Torrid, Macys, and JC Penny to check out their swimsuit collections. At each store I tried on a variety of swimsuits and had no luck at all. I just could not find a suit that fit me right and was stylish at the same time. I came home feeling frustrated and exhausted, so I decided to sit down and browse the web for other options. While searching online I found some amazing plus size swimsuit styles that were nowhere to be found at the mall on sites that I knew focused on plus size fashion and sizing.

The first site I sought out was LaneBryant.com and I found the Miraclesuit “Oceanus” one-piece swimsuit for $134.00 available in Black and Ocean Blue. This suit is a classic style and body for any occasion. It features special stretch fabric that gives you extra support and a noticeably slimmer silhouette. You cannot go wrong with this swimsuit!
